My tribute to Joss Whedon's "Firefly" and "Serenity"
lyrics
Who the big damn heroes? We the big damn heroes!
Who the big damn heroes?
Welcome to Serenity
Taken from Serenity Valley, baby
Fought against Alliance
Independence fought so valiantly
May have been on the losing side
But we know we were in the right
A million browncoats died
Me and AZoe stayed alive and thrived
We've done the impossible
And that makes us mighty
We are warriors
You can't take the sky from me
Renegades, outlaws
Fugitives on the run
Scraping by from job to job
With only our wits
And our guns
Pre-chorus:
Who the big damn heroes?
We the big damn heroes!
Who the big damn heroes?
We the big damn heroes!
Chorus:
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
Oh, we're too pretty to die
Sail on, Firefly
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
Oh, we're too pretty to die
Sail on, Firefly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
Fire, fire, fly, fly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
fly, fly, fly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
Fire, fire, fly, fly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
fly, fly, fly
My name is Mal
I'm the captain of this motley crew
Zoe is my right-hand gal
Mess with Jayne and he will cut you
Wash is the pilot
Kaylee looks after the moving parts
Simon is the doctor
River makes crazy into an art
Shepherd Book's the preacher
But he's so badass to the core
Inara Sera's our ambassador
But she ain't your whore
Mid-bulk transport
Standard radion-accelerator core
Firefly classcode 03-K64
Pre-chorus:
Who the big damn heroes?
We the big damn heroes!
Who the big damn heroes?
We the big damn heroes!
Chorus:
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
Oh, we're too pretty to die
Sail on, Firefly
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
Oh, we're too pretty to die
Sail on, Firefly
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
Oh, we're too pretty to die
Sail on, Firefly
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
Oh, we're too pretty to die
Sail on, Firefly
Bridge:
Don't you act like you know me
You could never control me
You can't stop the signal
Don't you act like you know me
You could never control me
You can't stop that signal
Who the big damn heroes?
We the big damn heroes!
Who the big damn heroes?
We the big damn heroes!
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
I aim to misbehave
No power in the 'Verse can stop me!
Chorus:
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
Oh, we're too pretty to die
Sail on, Firefly
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
Oh, we're too pretty to die
Sail on, Firefly
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
Oh, we're too pretty to die
Sail on, Firefly
With our brown coats on
With our guns out blazin'
Oh, we're too pretty to die
Sail on, Firefly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
Fire, fire, fly, fly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
fly, fly, fly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
Fire, fire, fly, fly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
fly, fly, fly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
Fire, fire, fly, fly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
fly, fly, fly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
Fire, fire, fly, fly
Fire, fire, fire, fire
fly, fly, fly

It's fresh with a diverse sound. Lots of energy and emotion running through this. Yes, it's Nerdcore rap, but it's from a different perspective, that of a confident Asian woman in a geeky world. Ryako
Shubzilla doesn't hold back and she delivers ferocity in spades. Bill Beats brings in some solid production and an interesting use of samples. Together, they are powerful and unapologetic. Ryako

I love this whole album: It just captures a wide range of experiences and affects the listener with a wide range of emotions.
I first liked this album because of the nerdcore elements, but I fell in love when I realized that these verses were true poetry, speaking to a deeper truth and beauty unlike most hip-hop I've heard. "A Poet" exemplifies this with its bittersweet message about how poetry is not valued. This is the first hip-hop tune I've ever shed a tear over.
